DISCOVER new stories and find family connections in our Archives and Library, the premiere collection of Greenbrier Valley history in the region. Located in the North House, the archives and library are home to our genealogical records, Greenbrier County courthouse documents and marriage bonds, as well as information on a wide variety of topics. Whether you are interested in researching a particular person or would like to browse through some local Greenbrier Valley history, a volunteer researcher would be more than happy to help you. The GHS Archives and Library is open to the public free of charge. As a volunteer-run component of the Greenbrier Historical Society, the Archives and Library appreciates donations for any research assistance.
Inquiries can be made over the phone or via email. Please send us any names, associated dates, and details that you have to make our job easier.
If you would like to visit the archive in person we are open by appointment only starting May 26th 2020. You must call or email the museum to schedule your visit. Only one group will be allowed in archives at a time and disinfecting procedures will take place between groups. We ask that you wear a mask as we have older volunteers that are a higher risk for COVID-19, we will have some available at the front desk if you don't have one.
