COVID-19 Archive Project

DOCUMENTING COVID-19

The Greenbrier Historical Society is working to document history as it happens. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all our lives in several ways, and we want to capture that history on a local and regional level.  As residents of the Greenbrier Valley (Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Monroe, and Summers Counties) we are seeking your help with this project. The Greenbrier Historical Society wishes to document and preserve the materials and stories that demonstrate how you are continuing to communicate, work, commute, learn, teach, create, pray, celebrate, mourn, and give aid to others.
We are hoping you can tell us your story or consider what objects or digital media best represent the experiences and observations that have stood out to you most. How are you and your family members spending your time? What do you regard as your biggest challenges? What things have been left unfinished or incomplete? What were you able to accomplish? Was there a moment when you realized a historic event was taking place?
The stories and materials we collect will allow all of us to study and share these experiences in the future. When people look back at this moment in history 200 years from now, we want to leave behind a collection that tells the story of what it was like living in the Greenbrier Valley during the coronavirus.
