North House Museum

At the North House Museum and Archive we are working hard to share the diverse history and culture of the Greenbrier Valley. Explore the history of the Valley with a docent-guided tour of the North House's regional exhibits.  Discover your historic connections to the area in our Archive and Library.  Join us for our educational events and programs all throughout the year! ​

Tours

Self-Guided

The North House Museum has two exhibits that are self-guided: Echoes of Slavery in Greenbrier County and our Edward Beyer Lithograph exhibit. 
Self-guided exhibits are always free to the public.

Docent-Guided

Admission- $5 per person (Free to children and members of GHS)​

Our knowledgeable staff is on hand providing guided tours to help you navigate our thematic exhibits and period rooms.  Guided tours of the North House Museum are available Monday through Saturday. Tours last about 45 minutes, with the first tour starting at 10 A.M.. Per state guidelines a mask is required inside the museum.  If you don't have one of your own, you're welcome to take a complimentary mask at the front desk. Our staff is implementing recommended disinfecting practices and will practice social distancing during the tour.

Walking Tours - $10 per person

Take a walking tour of historic Lewisburg! Our knowledgeable docents will teach you about the diverse history of this small West Virginia town. Learn about the many historic buildings, houses, and businesses, the discovery of Lewisburg by white settlers, the great fire of 1897, the Civil War Battle of Lewisburg, and more! ​Tours require walking up and down the rolling hills of Lewisburg and last around an hour.

History Walks

Guides will take you on a one-mile walk of historic Lewisburg where you will learn about the town's origin, inhabitants, and significant events.

Black History Walks

Guides will take you on a one-mile walk of downtown Lewisburg where you will learn about the vast Black history of the town. The tour will visit historically Black business buildings and churches while teaching visitors about the people who inhabited these places.

Cemetery Walks

Guided tours of Lewisburg's Old Stone, Dick Pointer, & Confederate Cemeteries currently offered.
